I love lettuce wraps. This is kind of weird to write because I am a total carb girl too. My mama is Italian and I grew up on pasta – lots of pasta. There is nothing better in this world than my mom’s rigatoni and meatballs. But as much as I LOVE pasta I always feel my best when I am keeping a lower carb diet. Don’t worry I am not anti carb by any stretch of the imagination I am just saying keeping an eye on the carbs keeps me feeling good.

Back to lettuce wraps and the reasons I love them. First, they are a GREAT way to enjoy my favorite sandwich fillings without all the carbs from bread. I have filled lettuce wraps with tuna salad, chicken salad, Healthy Buffalo Chicken Dip, and all other kinds of ingredients. Basically anything you would put in a wrap, between bread, or even in tacos or on top of rice can go into a lettuce wrap. Second, using a lettuce wrap brings out the flavor of the filling. The filling is the star. Third, they are super easy to make. Just take whatever filling you are using and put it in a lettuce wrap. Perfecto!

I have been craving Asian food lately so I decided my next lettuce wrap would have an Asian flare.

How to Make Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps

To keep the fat and calories low I used ground turkey. After I browned and cooked up the turkey I stirred in onion powder, garlic powder, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, ginger, sesame oil, sliced green onion, and Sriracha. Those are my absolute favorite Asian flavors wrapped up in one delicious wrap. The result is a sweet, tangy, and slight spicy lettuce wrap filling. Don’t skip the Sriracha because it gives it a nice kick. I even added a little more to my wrap after I put it together.

I used Boston lettuce but I have used romaine lettuce leaves as well. So use whatever lettuce you have on hand.

From start to finish this recipe took me less than 30 minutes to make. However, if you don’t have any time to spare then go ahead and make the filling on the weekend and freeze it. I even recommend freezing the filling into portions so you can just pull out what you need.

These Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps are high in protein so they are quite filling. They are also low carb so you will feel full but not bloated after eating them.

      5 stars
I added onions, green pepper and a little cabbage to the meat at the end when cooking. Then put in low calorie hard taco shell with some raw cabbage. I called them asian tacos. My family loved them.
