The Food I Ate All Day {While Traveling} to Stay on Track With My Weight Loss Goals

    Published: Oct 20, 2016 · Modified: Oct 29, 2024 by Tammy Overhoff

Healthy Dining Out While Traveling: Yes, Virginia, There Is A Way So I was in Chicago last week and spending a lot (i.e.: all) of my meals out and about and I kept getting asked "How do you stay on track when you're away?" I've already shared my "5 Tips for Stayig Healthy While Traveling" with you (https://www.organizeyourselfskinny.com/2016/05/12/5-simple-tips-to-stay-healthy-while-traveling/) but I thought it be helpful to see a photo journals of a healthy day when every single thing you consume came from a restaurant. Here we go: I started the day with 24oz of water. Early AM Uber ride from my hotel to SoulCycle Loop. I was concerned I'd only want to eat a little bit that I needed some carb fuel to make it through a 60-minute spin class, so I went with some Nature Valley crunchy granola bars, a banana and an iced coffee: I arrived at SoulCycle an hour and a half early (I'm blaming the time change) so I stopped for an espresso and some more fruit: SoulCyle was a crazy good workout, and I had another 24oz of water during and after. Then I decided on another snack after. This time I had some protein in A Siggi's yogurt and more fruit, with an iced black tea: About an hour after the snack, I realized I was going to be in trouble. I have been working so hard at increasing my rate of metabolism, and apparently today it kicked back into high gear. On these days, I know I need to add volume with fresh fruits and veggies but also add healthy oils and protein to feed the beast (my metabolism). I had another 24oz of water in hopes I could trick my body into thinking it was full. Fail. LOL I stopped off for 32oz of club soda, and salad with shrimp, a hardboiled egg AND avocado. I used 2tsp of olive oil on my salad, as well: I could feel my legs getting tight as the afternoon progressed, so I stretched again, and had another 24 ounces of water and another banana. I had a business dinner and went with more club soda, a tricolore salad and some grilled veggies with a polenta patty and some more healthy oil: I also felt like I worked pretty hard all day, so I added a Cosmo as my dessert: So today I ate 6 times, had more than 120oz of water of club soda, enjoyed an awesome spin class AND got to have a Cosmo. And I was well within my weight loss program, all day! What do you think? What would you do differently?

This post is by OYS writer Alexis from Trading Cardio for Cosmos. You can also find her on Facebook and Instagram sharing her awesome weight loss tips and motivation!! She’s lost over 100lbs so she has lots to share!

So I was in Chicago last week and spending a lot (i.e.: all) of my meals out and I kept getting asked “How do you stay on track when you’re away?”

I’ve already shared my “5 Tips for Staying Healthy While Traveling” with you but I thought it be helpful to see a journal (with some photos) of a healthy day when every single thing you consume came from a restaurant.

    Here we go:

I started the day with 24oz of water.

Early AM Uber ride from my hotel to SoulCycle Loop. I only wanted to eat a little bit. However,  I knew I needed some carb fuel to make it through a 60-minute spin class, so I went with a Nature Valley crunchy granola bar, a banana and an iced coffee:

I arrived at SoulCycle an hour and a half early (I’m blaming the time change) so I stopped for an espresso and some more fruit.

SoulCyle was a crazy good workout, and I had another 24oz of water during and after.

Then I decided on another snack after. This time I had some protein in A Siggi’s yogurt and more fruit, with an iced black tea:

About an hour after the snack, I realized I was going to be in trouble. I have been working so hard at increasing my rate of metabolism, and apparently today it kicked back into high gear. On these days, I know I need to add volume with fresh fruits and veggies but also add healthy oils and protein to feed the beast (my metabolism).
