However, tonight’s pizza creation was made by accident because I mistakenly thought I had pizza sauce in the refrigerator. It wasn’t until I was stretching out the dough that it dawned on me that we were out. At that point I knew our pizza destiny tonight would be a white one.
Personally, I love white pizza – you can’t go wrong with olive oil, garlic, cheese, onions, and dough. Well, maybe your breath won’t be a bouquet of roses but who cares white pizza is awesome. The chicken sausage I used was precooked and flavored with onions and peppers giving this already tasty pizza an extra kick. You can easily bulk up this simple pizza recipe with some spinach, mushrooms, broccoli, or other vegetables.
This recipe is very easy to put together and can be ready, start to finish, within 40 minutes.
I was not sure if the kids would like it but I got the thumbs up from one and the other picked off and ate all the components separately – so that still counts as a hit, right?
White Pizza with Chicken Sausage and Onions
Serving size: 1 slice

12 inch pizza dough (homemade or purchased)
3 tablespoons olive oil
1-3 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
½ onion, thinly sliced
2 chicken sausage links, sliced and halved
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Step 1: Stretch dough out to fit a 12 inch pizza pan lightly sprayed with cooking spray.
Step 2: Brush or spread (I used my hands) olive oil over dough leaving an inch for the crust. Then sprinkle on garlic and parmesan cheese. I use all three cloves of garlic because I love it.
Step 3. Add mozzarella cheese, onions, and chicken sausage.
Step 4. Bake for 23 – 25 minutes or until cheese bubbles and browns slightly. Cooking times may vary depending on your dough recipe and oven.
Make Ahead Instructions
For this meal I prepared the dough over the weekend. I took it out of the freezer yesterday to thaw overnight in the refrigerator. By dinner time it was ready to be prepared into pizza.
