When I first started my weight loss journey I did not make exercise a priority. I knew it was important and needed to be a part of my lifestyle I just had difficulty making exercise a habit. However, after losing 30lbs my weight loss hit a plateau and the scale stopped moving no matter how healthy I was eating. That is when I knew if I wanted to achieve my weight loss goals and a healthier lifestyle I needed to embrace exercise.
It took me about 3-4 weeks to make exercise a habit. At first it wasn’t easy because to create new healthier habits I needed to rid myself of unhealthier ones. This meant getting off the couch, putting down my tasty coffee, and working up a sweat. Yep, there where many days the couch look much more appealing. But soon it became easier to exercise and I didn’t need to force myself as much. Then I started to see results and exercise took on a whole new meaning. It is when I saw definition in my arms, my tummy get flatter, and my butt look smaller that I realized exercise is an absolute must in creating a healthier lifestyle.
Many people struggle with exercise because they have not found an activity they enjoy. If you don’t enjoy your exercise routine then it will be difficult to keep it sustainable. The key to every aspect of creating a healthy lifestyle is to find things that you want to continue with for the rest of your life.
The good news with exercise is there are many different activities to choose from. We talked last week about group exercise. Many people benefit and thrive with the support of their peers, a knowledgeable instructor, and in a structured class. Today I want to talk about a new concept that takes group exercise and studio fitness to a whole new level. I think this concept is so awesome and I am really excited to share it with you.
In partnership with Reebok, IMMERSIVE FITNESS™, created by Les Mills, is a new group exercise concept featuring cinema quality video content projected onto screens of a purpose-built studio. Instructors cue exercise moves that synchronize perfectly with music and graphics, creating a truly immersive fitness experience. The new concept is the integration of technology, exercise education and creative design. I think this sounds so awesome. This type of exercise not only engages you physically but it also plays to the social and mental side of fitness. I think people are really go to love this.
