My kids love smoothies – and so do I! They are easy to make and a great way to sneak in all kinds of fruits and other nutritious goodies. Not to mention a smoothie will fill my kids up so I can feel confident they will make it to lunch time without any tummy grumbles.
The idea for a smoothie kit came one morning when I starting to make a smoothie and realized I was out of yogurt. I try to plan for my meals as much as possible but I cannot control when someone – not mentioning any names – decides to chow down on yogurt after the kids and I go to bed. Hmmm. Therefore, smoothie freezer kits are a great way to make sure you always have the ingredients on hand to make a smoothie – especially for those busy back to school mornings.
This is just our basic go to berry smoothie recipe but I am sure this would work with any fruit, veggie, and yogurt combo. My brain is already going with flavor combinations. What do you think are some good ones?
I found a few smoothie freezer kit recipes on pinterest that looked good. However, most of them called for freezing the yogurt in ice cube trays then after they freeze storing in a freezer bag. I am sure that works awesome but I did not have time to wait for the yogurt cubes so I skipped that step and just dumped it all in a bag. I just measured the ingredients out first, put together in a freezer bag, and whola I had a smoothie freezer kit. Life is good.
Just so you know this might be the easiest recipe ever.
